Late Wednesday night, the first group of Nigerians who had to flee Sudan due to the ongoing war, arrived in Abuja, News About Nigeria reports.

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission announced this on Twitter on Thursday, sharing photos of the returnees.

The commission stated that the first batch of evacuees, estimated at 376, arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport via a military jet C13 at around 11:40 pm.

It is not uncommon for people to have to flee their homes when there is conflict or unrest in a particular country.

Unfortunately, the ongoing civil war in Sudan has resulted in many people having to leave their homes behind.

Among those who have had to flee are Nigerians who were living in Sudan.

These individuals have been living in difficult conditions and have been struggling to survive.

To help these Nigerians return home, the Nigerian government has been working to evacuate them from Sudan.

The first batch of returnees arrived on Wednesday night, and more are expected to arrive soon.

The returnees will now undergo medical checks and will be reunited with their families.

They will also receive assistance from the Nigerian government to help them reintegrate into society.

Since April 15, there has been a conflict occurring within the Sudanese Security forces.

This conflict involves two groups: the Army, which is headed by General Abdel Fattah Abdelrahman Burhan, and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which are led by General Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo, also known as Hemedti.

According to reports, over five hundred and twenty-eight persons (528) including fighters have died in the war.

At least, 4500 people have also sustained various degrees of injuries.
