Kaduna Bombing: Reps Sympathise With Victims, Promises To Monitor Investigations

The House of Representatives sympathised with the families of victims of the military drone attack that killed over 80 Nigerians in Kaduna State on Sunday, December 3, 2023.

This was contained in a statement titled “Tudun Biri tragedy elicits profound sorrow,” released by the Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, Babajimi Benson, on Saturday.

The Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, who expressed his pain over the tragic incident, said that the loss of innocent lives is heartbreaking.

He, therefore, charged the Nigerian Army and other security agencies in the nation to prioritise the safety of civilians during operations by ensuring that they exercise the utmost caution and implement measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

Babajimi went on to commend the Nigerian Army for admitting their mistake and for taking full responsibility for the accidental air strike.

He also stated that the House Committee on Defence would closely monitor the ongoing investigations to ensure that there is no recurrence of such painful incidents.

The lawmakers called on the public to continue to support the Nigerian army and other security agencies as they carry out their assignment to the nation.

News About Nigeria had reported that the Nigerian Army accidentally bombed villagers in the Tudun Biri community of Kaduna State who converged to celebrate Maulud on Sunday.

Confirming the attack, which led to the deaths of over 80 civilians and left many injured, the General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army and Force Commander Operation Whirl Punch, Maj Gen VU Okoro, admitted that the Nigerian Army was on a routine mission against terrorists when the incident happened.
