The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has reiterated its support for the fundamental right of citizens to engage in peaceful protests and exercise their freedom of assembly, as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution.

News About Nigeria reports that this is contained in a statement issued by the National Chairman, Falalu Bello.

The party acknowledged the rich history of protests in Nigeria, dating back to the first republic in 1965.

The PRP noted that protests have been an essential part of the democratic process, allowing citizens to express their grievances and demand change.

Bello commended the resilience and determination of Nigerian citizens in demanding better governance and improved living conditions. It urged the government to listen attentively to the concerns of protesters and take concrete steps to address their grievances.

The statement said PRP has consistently advocated for good governance, prudent spending, and transparency in public transactions.

The party emphasized the need to tackle corruption head-on and improve security measures to ensure the safety and well-being of all Nigerians.

While calling for peaceful resolution, the PRP urged Nigerians, particularly the youth, to join the party in demanding change from the current government. The party believes that collective action can bring about positive change and restore hope for a brighter future.

However, the PRP condemned any form of violence, vandalism, or harm caused to other citizens or their properties. It emphasized the importance of protesters exercising their rights responsibly and peacefully, respecting law and order while demanding justice and accountability from those in power.

The party called on the government to listen to voices of reason, including those of protesters, who have advised on how to bring good governance in Nigeria.

Bello said the PRP believes that peaceful protests are an essential component of the democratic process and encourages all stakeholders to work towards finding a resolution that promotes peace, stability, and development for all Nigerians.

He urged protesters to remain peaceful and respectful to the rights of all Nigerians and encouraged the youth to exercise their constitutional rights and responsibilities by electing responsible and principled parties like the PRP in the forthcoming elections.
