Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the last general elections, has commended Nigerian workers for their contributions in their various spheres towards nation-building, News About Nigeria reports.
In a letter to commemorate workers on the occasion of International Workers’ Day, Obi also noted that Nigerian workers are dogged goal-getters.
The former Anambra State governor also appreciated the workers for consistently defying all odds to give their best, regardless of the current state of hardship in the nation.
His letter partly reads, “As we come together to celebrate Workers’ Day, I am filled with an overwhelming sense of pride and admiration for each and every one of you who continue to stand tall and steadfast in your commitment to building our great nation, even in the face of adversity and challenges.
“Today, as we honour the hard work, dedication, and resilience of workers across the country and beyond, I am reminded of the incredible strength and spirit that define us as a people. Despite the countless obstacles and hurdles that may stand in our way, you, the backbone of our society, remain unwavering in your resolve to contribute to the growth and development of our beloved nation.”
Obi also pledged his commitment to the workers, noting that he stands with them in championing their cause and advocating for their rights.
The Labour Party flagbearer also tasked the Nigerian workers to continue their good works and service towards nation-building, as their labour for the nation will never be in vain.
