Biodun Oyebanji, the Governor of Ekiti State has debunked a claim that there have been continuous attacks and killings by bandits in the state.

Oyebanji said this in response to a video that went viral on Tuesday where an elderly woman who was mourning one of the late monarchs killed by bandits alleged that, if the bandits could kill their leaders, how much more the ordinary citizens and that people have been losing their lives in recent times in the state.

News About Nigeria recalls that three traditional rulers in the state were on Monday abducted by suspected bandits, which led to the death of two of them.

However, reacting to the video on Friday, the Ekiti state Commissioner for Information, Taiwo Olatunbosun denied that there have been similar attacks in the recent past as alleged in the video.

According to him, the woman made the statement out of emotion not based on reality because no such attacks had occurred in the state in the last one and a half years.

The Commissioner also stated that the current strike in the state is a result of the insecurity that is now plaguing the nation and even the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja.

He therefore charged the people of the state to not panic but to go about their businesses as they are committed to working with security agencies to ensure their safety and no repetition of such tragic occurrences.

Olatunbosun also revealed that security agencies are out on Investigation to bring the perpetrators of the heinous act to book and to also rescue the school children and members of staff of the Anglican grammar school, Emure-Ekiti that are still in the custody of their abductors.
