Phrank Shaibu, the Special Assistant on Public Communication to the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the February 25  election, Atiku Abubakar, on Thursday, said that the All Progressives Congress, APC, is not prepared for governance, News About Nigeria reports.

According to Shaibu, the recently released report of the Nigerian Bureau of Statistics, NBS, confirms that the APC is not concerned about the poverty and suffering Nigerians are facing.

He also stated that the fact that Nigerians spend a large chunk of their earnings on food alone is proof that the economy under the APC-led federal government is on the verge of collapse.

According to Shaibu, regardless of the suffering Nigerians are going through, Tinubu and his team are busy funding their luxurious lifestyles with huge budgets for the renovation of official residences and the purchase of vehicles.

Atiku’s aide also stated that when the PDP was in power, the economy was in robust health, inflation was within single digits, and the exchange rate of the Naira to the Dollar was around N180 to $1 USD, but today, the Naira is the worst performing currency in the world exchanging at over N1,000 to $1USD.

According to him, a 50 kg bag of rice under successive PDP governments sold for no more than N8,000 per bag, but now, Nigerians are struggling to buy the same bag of rice for more than N50,000 at a time when the national minimum wage stands at N30,000 per month.

He further noted that when Tinubu’s administration said it would build on what former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration did, he meant that the suffering Nigerians were subjected to for eight years would be doubled.

Shaibu also decried the fact that the number of Nigerians living in extreme poverty, which stood at over 133 million, representing roughly 64 per cent of Nigerians during the Buhari regime, has risen under Tinubu.
