This development was made public by the spokesperson of the PSC, Ikechukwu Ani, on Friday.
DIG Ciroma will be assuming the responsibilities previously held by DIG Ali Janga, who has retired from active service. Prior to his retirement, DIG Janga represented the North-East geopolitical zone in the Police Management Team.
The statement clarified that DIG Ciroma, being the most senior officer from the zone, will now serve as its representative.
On the other hand, DIG Mba will take over the role previously held by retired DIG John Amadi, who represented the South East zone.
Furthermore, the Police Service Commission (PSC) has officially announced the elevation of 14 Commissioners of Police to the prestigious position of Assistant Inspectors General of Police.
Furthermore, 22 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) have been promoted and will now hold the substantive rank of Commissioners.
These determinations were made during the 21st Plenary Meeting of the Commission, presided over by Solomon Arase, a former head of the police force known as the Inspector General of Police.
All members of the commission, including Dr. (Mrs.) Ifeoma Adaora Anyanwutaku, the Permanent Secretary/Secretary to the commission, was present at the meeting.
Among the newly appointed AIGs are Abubakar Lawal, Alhassan Aminu, Abdul Umar, Shettima Zannah, Ebong Eyibio Ebong, Adepoju Ayiinde Ilori, and Okon Okon Effiong. Others include Echeng Eworo Echeng, Susan Ukpanukiema Horsfall, Bankole Lanre Sikiru, Oladimeji Yomi Olarewaju, Sani Gwarzo, and Odama Paul Ojeka.
The 22 Deputy Commissioners of Police who have been promoted to the rank of Commissioners are Abibo Deinma Reuben, Thomas Abraham Nabhoni, Wakil Abdul Salamai, Enyinnaya Inonachi, Ronke Nurat Okunade, and Adekunle Ismail Olusokan. The list also includes Hassan Abdu Yabnet, Festus Chinedu Oko, Aminu Baba Raji, Omolara Ibidun Oluntola, Akoh Benedict Gabriel, Alamutu Abiodun Mustapha, Bafda Magaji Jahun, Ahmadu Tijani Abdullahi, and Mohammed Mu’azu, among others.
