Nigeria has welcomed its new President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, following an arduous election campaign that lasted several months.
News About Nigeria reports that Tinubu, a 71-year-old former Governor of Lagos State, took the oath of office on Monday, May 29, in a grand ceremony held at the Eagle Square in Abuja, the country’s capital.
The swearing-in was conducted by Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, with Tinubu’s deputy, Kashim Shettima, also taking the oath shortly after.
Notable figures in attendance included Tinubu’s predecessors, Muhammadu Buhari and Goodluck Jonathan, as well as their respective wives.
The event was further graced by the presence of African leaders, such as the new Prime Minister of Gabon, Billy By-Nze, the President of Cote D’Ivoire, Alassane Ouattara, the President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, and the President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame.
The inauguration ceremony attracted numerous dignitaries, including Akinwumi Adesina, Aliko Dangote, Femi Otedola, Abdulsamad Rabiu, and Jim Ovia.
It was also attended by service chiefs, heads of security agencies, governors, former governors, serving and former ministers, and prominent members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Meanwhile President Muhammadu Buhari has officially dissolved the Federal Executive Council (FEC), signaling the end of the current administration.
The announcement came late on Sunday night through a memo.
The FEC consists of esteemed officials such as the president, vice president, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the president’s Chief of Staff, Head of Service, and Ministers.
This dissolution represents a significant change in the structure of Nigeria’s government.
With the current administration coming to a close, the nation eagerly awaits the beginning of a new era as Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is poised to assume the role of Nigeria’s next leader.
