In response to security concerns surrounding the upcoming inauguration parade for President-Elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on May 29, the Federal Government has issued a directive to close the roads connecting the Federal Secretariat Complexes of Phase I, II, III, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

News About Nigeria reports that the closure will be effective from 2 pm on Friday, May 26, until Monday, May 29.

Dr. Ngozi Onwudiwe, the Permanent Secretary of the Service Welfare Office at the Office of the Head of the Service of the Civil Service of the Federation (HOCSF), announced this decision in a circular released on Friday in Abuja.

The closure of these roads is part of the security arrangements implemented by the Presidential Transition Council (PTC) to ensure the smooth execution of the inauguration parade.

To enforce this directive, access to the affected areas will be restricted for officers and visitors starting from the aforementioned date and lasting until Tuesday, May 30, when normal activities will resume.

The purpose of this road closure is to maintain a secure environment and facilitate the successful commencement of President-Elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu‘s swearing-in ceremony.

By restricting access to the affected areas, the government aims to enhance security measures and prevent any potential disruptions during the inauguration parade.

It is crucial for both officers and visitors to adhere to this directive and plan their schedules accordingly, as access to the Federal Secretariat Complexes of Phase I, II, III, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be strictly prohibited until the designated date.

This temporary measure ensures that the inauguration parade is conducted smoothly and without any compromising security incidents.

Following the conclusion of the parade and the subsequent swearing-in ceremony, work will resume promptly on Tuesday, May 30.

This will allow for the seamless continuation of government operations and the resumption of regular activities in the affected areas.

The Federal Government said it remains committed to upholding the safety and security of its citizens, particularly during significant events such as the inauguration of a new president.

Implementing measures like road closures demonstrates its dedication to maintaining a secure environment for the smooth execution of important national ceremonies.
