EFCC Office on Fire

The Enugu Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Nigeria experienced a fire incident on Friday, May 5th, as stated in a tweet by the agency, News About Nigeria reports.

The statement explained that the inferno was triggered by an unexpected power surge which affected one of the buildings in the command.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:30 am on Friday, and fortunately, no life was lost during the event.

However, the building was partially destroyed by the flames.

According to the EFCC statement, the fire was eventually put out due to the combined efforts of the Enugu State and Federal Fire Service.

The EFCC did not provide any further details concerning the incident or the extent of the damage caused by the fire.

The Enugu Zonal Command of the EFCC is responsible for investigating financial and economic crimes in the South-Eastern region of Nigeria.

The commission has been involved in numerous high-profile investigations and prosecutions over the years.

A fire outbreak at the EFCC office in Enugu is a significant concern, as it could lead to the loss of critical documents and evidence related to ongoing investigations.

The EFCC has not yet commented on whether any files or equipment were damaged by the fire.

It is not the first time that the EFCC has experienced such an incident.

In 2018, a fire outbreak occurred at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja, destroying several important documents and disrupting operations at the agency.

The cause of the fire was attributed to an electrical fault.
