The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed the loss of five personnel in a tragic road accident along the Akwanga-Jos highway.

News About Nigeria gathered that the accident occurred on October 22, 2024, as the personnel were en route to Abuja for a sporting event when their vehicle collided with an oncoming truck.

In a statement released on Tuesday, NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, expressed the force’s deep regret over the incident.

He added that steps have already been initiated to support the families of the deceased.

He also urged the public to respect the privacy of the victims’ families and avoid sharing unverified details.

The statement concluded with condolences.

He said, “The Nigerian Air Force deeply regrets to announce the loss of five of our gallant personnel who were involved in a tragic road traffic accident on 22 October 2024.

“The unfortunate incident occurred around Hawan Kibo along the Jos-Akwanga Express Road. Our personnel were heading for a sporting event in Abuja when their vehicle was involved in a collision with an oncoming truck.

“Consequently, the statutory administrative protocols applicable in circumstances such as this have been activated by the NAF to provide comfort and support to the bereaved families.

“We appeal to the public to respect the privacy of the victims’ families during this difficult time and to refrain from sharing unverified details. May their souls rest in perfect peace.”

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Armed Forces have warned terrorists in Zamfara State and other states in the North West to surrender now or end up dying from the troop’s firepower.

According to the Theatre Commander of the newly established Operation Fansar Yamma, Major General Oluyinka Soyele, during a visit to Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State, the troops are committed to taking the fight against banditry to the terrorists in their enclaves in order to free Zamfara and other states from the incessant attacks.

Soyele also assured that NAF is ready to launch an onslaught against the daredevil terrorists to flush them out of Zamfara and other troubled parts of the Northwest zone.
