Hillary, Bill Clinton Lauds Biden For Stepping Down, Endorsing Kamala Harris

On Monday, former president Bill Clinton and ex-secretary of State Hillary Clinton lauded the US president, Joe Biden, over his decision not to contest the forthcoming election in the country.

They also appreciated Biden for his decision to support Vice President Kamala Harris in taking up the baton to be the US next president.

In a joint statement released today, the Clintons also threw their weight behind Harris, noting that she is the best for the job.

They noted that they will do whatever it takes to support Harris in order to stop Donald Trump from getting a second term in office.

The statement partly reads, “Honored to join Joe Biden in endorsing Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee and will do whatever we can to support her. Nothing has made us more worried for our country than the threat posed by a second Trump term. He has promised to be a dictator on day one.”

News About Nigeria earlier reported that Biden announced his intention to drop out of the US presidential race on Sunday.

In the statement where he made his intention public, the 81-year-old noted that it was the “greatest honour” to serve the US but his withdrawal was “in the best interest of my party and the country.”

Following his decision, the Democratic Party, with his support, endorsed his vice president, Harris, as their candidate for the election.

On her part, the 59-year-old Democratic candidate said she was “honoured” to be endorsed, adding that she would “earn and win this nomination” and unite the country against Trump.

“We have 107 days until election day,” she said. “Together, we will fight. And together, we will win,” she added.
