Professor Aisha Sani Maikudi Appointed Acting Vice-Chancellor Of UNIABUJA

Professor Aisha Sani Maikudi has been appointed the acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of Abuja (UNIABUJA), succeeding Professor AbdulRasheed Na’Allah, whose tenure as the 6th Vice-Chancellor recently concluded.

Her appointment was announced following her nomination at the valedictory Senate meeting held on Wednesday, according to a statement by the outgoing Na’Allah

News About Nigeria gathered that Professor Maikudi will hold this position until the University Council is inaugurated and a permanent Vice-Chancellor is selected.

Professor Maikudi, a specialist in international law, currently serves as the deputy vice-chancellor (academic).

Born on January 31, 1983, in Zaria and originally from Katsina State, Aisha Maikudi completed her secondary education at Queens College, Lagos, earning her West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

She went on to obtain a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Reading and a Master of Laws (LLM) from the London School of Economics in the UK. She also attended the Nigeria Law School in Abuja for her call to the Bar and earned her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in law from the University of Abuja.

Notably, Professor Maikudi became the youngest female law professor in Nigeria at the age of 38 and holds the distinction of being the youngest law professor from the northwest region of Nigeria.

Furthermore, she is the youngest professor at the University of Abuja.

Professor Maikudi began her academic career as a lecturer at the University of Abuja in 2008. In 2014, she became the first female and youngest Head of the Faculty of Law’s Department.

Four years later, in 2018, she was appointed the first female and youngest Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Law and the pioneer Director at the University of Abuja.

During her tenure, Aisha introduced a postgraduate course on United Nations Law and has supervised numerous undergraduate and postgraduate projects.

With over 12 years of experience teaching company law, she has attended multiple conferences and training sessions globally.

In addition to her academic roles, Professor Maikudi is an active member of several professional associations, including the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), the Nigerian Law Teachers Association (NLTA), and the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA).
