Abuja Sisters: Police Arrest Bandit Linked To Nabeeha’s Murder

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have apprehended Bello Mohammed, a 28-year-old member of a bandit gang responsible for the kidnapping of Barrister Ariyo’s and Mansoor Al-Kadriyar’s families in Bwari and the tragic murder of Nabeeha, one of the five sisters.

News About Nigeria gathered that the arrest took place in Kaduna, where the suspect was found in possession of a substantial sum believed to be proceeds from the ransom collected.

Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, disclosed this in a statement released on Sunday in Abuja.

According to the statement, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Tafa Division acted on intelligence and raided a hotel in Tafa Area, Kaduna, leading to the arrest of Bello Mohammed.

The suspect was found with the sum of ₦2.25 million, suspected to be part of the ransom collected from kidnapped victims in the area.

During interrogation, the arrested suspect confessed to being part of the gang that kidnapped the family members of Barrister Ariyo in Bwari, FCT, on January 2, 2024.

Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar, along with her four sisters and their father, Alhaji Mansoor Al-Kadriyar, were also abducted in their residence in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

Their abductors had issued a deadline for the payment of ransom, and the failure of the family to meet their demand led to the murder of Nabeeha.

After killing the victim, the bandits raised the ransom from N60 million to N100 million, threatening to kill the remaining sisters.

During his arrest, Bello Mohammed attempted to bribe the DPO with ₦1,000,000 but the DPO rejected the offer and carried out his duty diligently.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has ordered that the suspect be handed over to the DFI-IRT in Abuja for discreet investigations into the matter, with a focus on arresting all others responsible for the heinous act.

The arrested suspect is now assisting the police in their ongoing investigations. The IGP commended the DPO Tafa, SP Idris Ibrahim, for his commitment and professionalism in handling the case.

The police assured the public that no effort would be spared in decimating criminal elements and ensuring a safer society for all Nigerians.
