The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, has inaugurated a committee to resolve the dispute between the Governor of Ondo state, Rotimi Akeredolu and his Deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, News About Nigeria reports.
This is following the letter the embattled deputy governor wrote to the Chief Judge of the state, Olusegun Odusola, urging him to ignore the directive of the House of Assembly to set up a seven-member panel to investigate him.
The Deputy Governor is under threat of impeachment by the State’s House of Assembly over allegations of gross misconduct.
Aiyedatiwa had earlier obtained an order from the Federal High Court in Abuja to compel the lawmakers to suspend the process of his impeachment.
Ganduje while speaking at the inauguration of the committee headed by former Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari, said that their aim is towards restoring a sound working relationship between the governor and his deputy.
He said, “We are interested to see that there is a peaceful coexistence and a good working relationship between the governor of Ondo State and his deputy.
“To see how we can solve this problem, it is important to set up a reconciliation committee. A reconciliation must consist of people who have relevant experience, and cognitive knowledge on the issue before us.”
On his part, Masari noted that he is confident that their intervention would lead to the settlement of things between the Ondo leaders.
