The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf has hired the lead counsel to President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) Wole Olanipekun (SAN) to push for the redemption of his mandate at the Court of Appeal, News About Nigeria reports.

This was disclosed in a copy of the notice of appeal where other members of legal team of the governor were said to be; Bode Olanipekun (SAN), Ibrahim G. Waru and Akintola Makinde.

On the part of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief E.O.B. Offiong (APC) remains their lead counsel against the Governor.

The Kano State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal last month sacked Yusuf of the New Nigerian People’s Party, NNPP and declared his opponent, Nasir Yusuf Gawuna of the APC as the winner of the March 18 gubernatorial election.

Following their ruling, Yusuf filed a 42-ground of appeal before the appellate court asking the court to set aside the judgment of the tribunal and to also strike out the petition of the APC.
