The Lagos State Police Command has arrested Olamilekan Eletu popularly known as Sam Larry as it continues investigations to unravel the cause of the death of Afrobeat singer, Mohbad.
Sam Larry was reported to have fled the country after the death of Mohbad following allegations of his alleged involvement in the singer’s death.
Outraged Nigerians have continued to call for the arrest of Sam Larry and Mohbad’s former label boss Naira Marley after the singer’s demise. The duo is believed to have played a vital role in events that led to the singer’s demise after the resurfacing of clips where the singer was being intimidated by his former label boss and his associate.
Announcing the arrest in a tweet on Thursday night, spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command Benjamine Hundeyin in a tweet via his official X account said Sam Larry was currently in custody of the state’s police command.
“Balogun Olamilekan Eletu aka Sam Larry is now in our custody, He is currently assisting with ongoing investigations,” a statement by Mr Hundeyin read.
News About Nigeria recalled that despite widespread videos and other viral evidences, both Naira Marley and Sam Larry had denied being involved in the singer’s death.
Sam Larry, while debunking claims of his involvement with the singer’s death, claimed to love the singer like his brother.
On his part Naira Marley had during an interview with Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide said that he had no hands in the death of the singer, debunking allegations that he ran away from the country following the death of his former label signee, Naira Marley said he left the country before the singer’s death.
He, however, said he was willing to honor the invitation of the Nigerian Police force so far they could guarantee his safety.
