Kwara State Gov Announces Minor Reshuffle In Cabinet

The Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has given the green light for a comprehensive multi-billion naira palliative plan, News About Nigeria reports.

This palliative is aimed at cushioning the effect of the fuel subsidy removal by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

State Governors have been rolling out palliative measures to tackle the negative effects of the subsidy removal.

Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara State governor Rafiu Ajakaye, on Monday, announced that the palliatives would include monthly cash support of N10,000 for civil servants.

He said this will continue until a new minimum wage is introduced and also directed the public sector workers to report to the office only three times a week to reduce transportation costs. He further advised that they work from home for the remaining two days of the working week.

The Governor also approved the payment of new hazard and skipping allowances for medical doctors and nurses.

The teachers were not left out, and those who were promoted in 2019 and 2020, as well as those who got promoted in 2021, will also have their previous benefits restored.

Abdulrazaq said university and secondary students will ride buses for free, and the government will also give food to poor families.

He created a program called KWASSIP to help small traders and businesses in Kwara State. They will receive the tune of  N500 million as conditional support from the state government.

He affirmed that these initiatives provided will be fair and not favour any particular group, tribe, or religion.

The government said it will work with traditional rulers, religious groups, market leaders, and others to make sure the aid goes to the right people.
