Nigerian On-Air-Personality Oladotun Ojuolape Kayode, known as Dotun, has revealed why parents should consider rejecting gifts from their children, News About Nigeria reports.
The father of two took to his Twitter page to express his opinion.
He emphasized the importance of normalizing the act of parents declining presents from their kids.
He suggested that parents should exercise caution when accepting expensive gifts from their children.
He said this is very important especially when they cannot ascertain the source of their earnings or when the value of the gift exceeds their children’s means.
Dotun stressed that even though they are still their children, it is reasonable for parents to reject such offerings.
He said children will ultimately be fine, regardless of their decision to decline gifts.
Recall that on International Father’s Day, Dotun cried out to the world that he has not set his eyes on his children for almost a year.
Dotun got married to his wife, Omotayo in 2013.
Omotayo is also the younger sister to ace musician, Dapo Oyebanjo popularly known as D’banj.
The marriage produced two girls identified as Fife and Fiore.
However, in 2022, Omotayo filed for divorce on grounds of emotional abuse, forced abortion, and domestic violence.
“No amount of lies, games, deceit or slowed legal process can break me. Fife and Fiore, Daddy just wants his time with you like he deserves but they deny it; disobey the law cos they are scared, cowards and immature”
“No one should use kids as bait or weapons in a fight. I’ll keep fighting the right way”, he wrote.
