Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde made a historic move on Friday, as he elevated the esteemed members of the Olubadan in Council, News About Nigeria reports.
The memorable event unfolded at the prestigious Mapo Hall in Ibadan, drawing a remarkable gathering of dignitaries, including traditional rulers from neighboring towns and states across the Southwest region.
Under this significant decision, the eleven high chiefs, who serve as members of the Olubadan advisory council, will now wear beaded crowns, symbolizing their new royal stature.
Furthermore, the Ibadan paramount ruler, Oba Lekan Balogun, will be accorded the distinguished title of Royal Majesty.

This development follows Governor Makinde’s previous approval to promote former Governor Rashidi Ladoja and ten other Ibadan High Chiefs to the esteemed position of beaded crown Obas.
Recently, the Governor signed the Chieftaincy Amendment Bill into law, empowering him with the autonomy to confer beaded crowns and coronets to chiefs within the state.
The newly crowned high chiefs include Balogun of Ibadanland, Owolabi Olakulehin; Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rasheed Ladoja; Otun Balogun, Tajudeen Ajibola; Osi Olubadan, Eddy Oyewole; Osi Balogun, Lateef Adebimpe; Ashipa Olubadan, Biodun Kola-Daisi; Ashipa Balogun, Kola Adegbola; Ekerin Olubadan, Hamidu Ajibade; Ekerin Balogun, Olubunmi Isioye; Ekarun Olubadan, Bayo Akande; and Ekarun Balogun, Abiodun Azeez.
