The Rivers State Police successfully apprehended the leader of a notorious criminal gang known as Ojukwu, News About Nigeria reports.
During the raid on his hideouts in the Khana Local Government Area of the state, law enforcement officers discovered a human skull, along with two AK-47 rifles and a pump-action shotgun.
The Chairman of Khana LGA, Dr. Thomas Bari-ere, revealed this development during a press briefing in Port Harcourt.
He explained that the council received valuable intelligence regarding Ojukwu’s activities, prompting them to alert the police promptly.
Dr. Bari-ere stated, “We received intelligence information that one of the suspects in police custody, by the name of Ojukwu, has a place where he stores his arms, as well as a human skull.
He uses them to administer oaths to his victims to ensure their silence.”
Acting swiftly on the information, the Bori Police Division and the anti-cultism unit conducted a successful operation.
They recovered two AK-47 rifles, a human skull, and a pump-action shotgun.
Dr. Bari-ere called on the police to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that the gang leader faces prosecution for his crimes.
He also urged residents of Khana LGA to support the police by providing any useful information they may have about the whereabouts of criminal gangs, enabling prompt action by law enforcement.
“It is one thing to apprehend a criminal, it is yet another for the instrumentality of the law to be activated such that the criminals are made to face the law,” he said.
When contacted, the spokesperson of the State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the arrest and the recovery of the items.
She stated, “Yes, the suspect is in our custody, and investigations into the recovered arms and ammunition are ongoing.”
