Former President Obasanjo, CJN, Sultan, and Other dignitaries to grace Afe Babalola’s 60th call to bar anniversary, News About Nigeria reports.

The distinguished guests attending the event also include His Eminence the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, Bishop Matthew Kukah of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto State, Mr. Yakubu Maikyau, SAN, the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), and many others.

Afe Babalola, founder of Afe Babalola University was called to the Bar of England and Wales on July 9, 1963.

The event, which will feature a public lecture and book launch, aims to celebrate his remarkable 60-year journey as a lawyer.

According to a statement by the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Kehinde Ogunwumiju, SAN, the ceremony, organized by Aare Babalola’s mentees, admirers, and beneficiaries, will take place at the Alfa Belgore Hall, Afe Babalola University, ABUAD, in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

Bishop Kukah will deliver the anniversary lecture titled “The Future of Constitutional Democracy in Nigeria: Imperative of a New Constitutional Order,” with former President Obasanjo serving as the Chairman of the occasion.

The event will also feature testimonials, goodwill messages from friends, admirers, and associates of Aare Afe Babalola, as well as a book launch.

The proceeds from the book launch will go towards the construction of the ABUAD museum.

The statement further revealed that the day’s activities will culminate in a celebration dinner with King Sunny Ade providing musical entertainment at 7:00 p.m. in the same venue.

The event is expected to be attended by notable individuals from various sectors, including members of the Bar and the Bench, legal academics, royalty, clergy, delegates from the University of London and King’s College London, captains of industries, and members of the diplomatic community.

Recognized with over 50 titles and awards worldwide, including honorary doctorates from prestigious universities, he holds national honors such as the Officer of the Federal Republic (OFR) and Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON).
