The National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has assured President Bola Tinubu and the entire nation that the security agencies are fully committed to achieving the objective of securing the country and reinstating peace and stability.
The meeting took place against the backdrop of the escalating challenges posed by insurgency, banditry, kidnapping, and other violent crimes that have gravely threatened the corporate existence of the nation, News About Nigeria reports.
During the meeting, President Tinubu emphasized the need for unity and collaboration among the security chiefs to effectively address the protracted security challenges facing the country.
Responding to the President’s charge, NSA Ribadu pledged that the security agencies would work as a cohesive team to fulfill their mandate of dealing with the pressing security issues.
Addressing State House correspondents after the meeting, Mallam Ribadu expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for the opportunity to serve the country and his government.
He affirmed the loyalty of the security chiefs to the President, Nigeria, and its citizens. Ribadu asserted that President Tinubu’s choice of security heads was appropriate and aligned with the aspirations of the nation.
“We firmly believe in the President’s vision for our country, and we are dedicated to tirelessly working towards the objective of securing our nation, establishing peace, and restoring stability so that Nigerians can reclaim their lives,” stated Mallam Ribadu.
Highlighting the President’s support and commitment, the NSA assured the security chiefs that President Tinubu stood firmly behind them, emphasizing the imperative of teamwork and the urgency to deliver on their assigned tasks. Ribadu expressed gratitude for the opportunity given to the security chiefs, emphasizing their determination to succeed.
When questioned about the starting point for the new security heads, Mallam Ribadu pointed out that the situation had already shown signs of improvement.
He expressed optimism that the record of crimes and activities perpetrated by criminals would continue to decrease. Ribadu reassured the nation that the appointed security chiefs were among the best in their respective fields and would undoubtedly deliver on their promises.
The meeting attended by the Chief of Defence Staff, Major-General Christopher Musa, Chief of Army Staff, Major-General Taoreed Lagbaja, Chief of Naval Staff, Rear-Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Hassan Abubakar, and the Acting Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, marked a significant step towards fostering inter-agency cooperation and synergy in tackling insecurity.
It is worth noting that in a previous meeting with the former service chiefs, President Tinubu emphasized the need for unified efforts and warned against inter-agency rivalries that had previously hindered progress in the fight against insecurity. He stressed the importance of avoiding past mistakes, which allowed insurgents, bandits, and kidnappers to flourish, posing a grave threat to the nation’s corporate existence.
