The Federal Government, under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, has recently announced the renaming of several federal airports in Nigeria, News About Nigeria reports.
This development, stated in a memo issued by the Federal Ministry of Aviation, and signed by Mrs. Joke Olatunji, marks a significant reform in the aviation sector.
Among the notable renaming decisions, the Maiduguri Airport has been dedicated to the immediate past President Muhammadu Buhari, while the Port Harcourt Airport now carries the name of the late nationalist, Obafemi Awolowo.
Furthermore, the Nasarawa Airport has been named after Usman Dan Fodio, the influential founder of the Sokoto Caliphate.
Additionally, the Benin Airport has been renamed in honor of the late Oba of Benin, Oba Akenzua II, and the Ebonyi Airport now pays tribute to the late Senate President Chuba Okadigbo.
Lastly, the Ibadan Airport has been dedicated to the late Premier of the old Western Region, Ladoke Akintola.
