News About Nigeria understands that English Premier League club Chelsea is reportedly in talks to sign Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar Jr.
The 31-year-old Brazilian forward has attracted interest from several clubs in the Premier League, including Manchester United. However, Chelsea appears to be at the forefront of the race to secure the tactical player, despite initial interest shown by Manchester United.
Although no official agreement has been reached between Neymar and either of the two clubs, sources suggest that Chelsea will initiate the necessary paperwork in the coming weeks to pursue the transfer.
In the meantime, Chelsea has been actively preparing for the upcoming season following the conclusion of the 2022/23 Premier League campaign. The club is set to welcome its new coach, Mauricio Pochettino, in July.
Furthermore, there have been reports of potential departures from Chelsea’s squad ahead of the upcoming season. Midfielder N’Golo Kante is rumored to be on the verge of joining Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad on a free transfer.
The final details of Kante’s contract are currently under discussion with Chelsea, and it is expected that the proposal will be accepted.
Sources indicate that Al Ittihad directors arrived in London on Wednesday to meet with the PIF Saudi delegation and prepare the necessary documents for their meeting with Chelsea.
If the deal is agreed upon, Kante’s contract with Al Ittihad will run until the summer of 2025, spanning two years. The French international is said to be earning in excess of €100 million per year.
It is worth noting that Real Madrid’s Ballon d’Or winner, Karim Benzema, recently signed a three-year deal with the Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad.
