EFCC Plans To Rehabilitate Convicted Internet Fraudsters, Says Chairman

At present, President Bola Tinubu is engaged in a meeting with Abdulrasheed Bawa, who holds the position of Chairman at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

This meeting is taking place within the Aso Rock Presidential Villa located in Abuja.

News About Nigeria reports that this meeting is taking place shortly after Tinubu instructed the Department of State Services (DSS) to vacate the EFCC’s office in Ikoyi, Lagos.

Bawa arrived at the Presidential Villa a few minutes after 2 pm and was escorted to the President’s office complex.

Although the purpose of the meeting has not been made public, it is likely related to the reported conflict between the EFCC and the DSS.

On Tuesday, Tinubu directed the DSS to immediately leave the EFCC’s office in Ikoyi after learning that DSS officials had stormed the premises, preventing EFCC officials from accessing their workplace.

The DSS operatives arrived at the office around 7 am and refused to leave despite attempts at dialogue between the two agencies.

The current incident stems from a long-standing rivalry between the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) concerning the ownership of the building in question.

The EFCC expressed surprise at how operatives from the DSS denied them entry into their own office in Lagos.

However, the DSS has denied these allegations, stating that they are untrue.

In light of these events, the President emphasized his commitment to resolving any issues between these significant government agencies in a peaceful and cooperative manner.

This meeting between President Tinubu and Chairman Bawa is a significant step towards finding a resolution to the conflict between the EFCC and the DSS.

The President’s involvement demonstrates his commitment to addressing this issue and ensuring the smooth functioning of both agencies.
