Barcelona is reportedly set to offer a deal to bring back Lionel Messi to the club for the second time, after leaving two years ago, News About Nigeria reports.

The club’s President Joan Laporta also said that the Spanish club will not offer “crazy figures” for their former player but will do everything possible to get him back.

He said that plans are on, but the club cannot do much for now, until LaLiga gives their approval.

“We want Leo, we will not offer crazy figures for that or any other deal. We’ll try to make things work with viability plan, waiting for (LaLiga) approval,”

When asked the possible role Messi would be playing upon return, Laporta said that will be dealt with by Xavi (Barcelona’s manager), noting that irrespective of the role assigned to the Argentine, he will always adapt because he is the world’s best player.

“Where would Leo play? Up to Xavi, it’s never an issue with the best player in the world”.

Messi’s return to Barcelona will largely be decided by the authorities of the Spanish top-flight league (LaLiga), following the club’s financial crisis in recent times.

Messi will become a free agent when his contract with Paris Saint-Germain ends this June. PSG has no hope of keeping the Argentine, while Messi has also made up his mind to leave as he no longer feels welcome at the club

Recall that Barcelona is not the only team demanding Messi, Saudi Arabia Pro League club Al-Hilal is also on the radar, with their juicy offer in excess of $200m yearly.

The next few weeks are most likely going to decide the future of the World Cup winner.
