President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu has revealed that Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike supported him beyond expectations in the February 25 presidential election, News About Nigeria reports.

Recall that Tinubu who is the flagbearer of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) emerged winner after defeating Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) and Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

During the commissioning of the Raumuokwuta/Rumuola flyover bridge in Port Harcourt, Bola Tinubu, expressed his gratitude to Wike.

Tinubu stated that Wike’s structural support was a significant contribution to his victory, which he could not have achieved without him.

Tinubu acknowledged that his victory in the presidential election was hard-fought and that the support of Wike and many others played a vital role.

He thanked Wike for his support, which went beyond the flyover bridge that was being commissioned.

He described Wike as a man of principle, who had the courage to stand by his conviction that the presidency must come to the south.

Tinubu praised Wike for his integrity, saying that he did not choose to serve his own interest, but the interest of the nation.

According to Tinubu, Wike promoted unity, fairness, and justice.

Nyesom Wike earlier announced that Wednesday would be a holiday and urged residents of Rivers State to come out in large numbers to welcome Tinubu.

The decision to declare a public holiday did not sit well with so many Nigerians.

Some believe that it is a waste of resources, while others think that it is unnecessary and disruptive to the state’s daily activities.

Despite the criticism, Governor Wike has defended his decision, stating that it is a way to honor the President-Elect and showcase the state’s development projects to the world.

He added that the event would bring about a positive change and create opportunities for the people of Rivers State.
