The President-elect, Bola Tinubu, has chosen Lt. Col. Nurudeen Alowonle Yusuf as his Aide De Camp (ADC), News About Nigeria reports.
Lt. Col. Yusuf hails from Kwara state and is expected to serve as Tinubu’s ADC when he takes over from President Muhammadu Buhari on May 29, 2023.
Tinubu emerged as the winner of the 2023 presidential election, defeating other presidential candidates such as Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), and many more.
With his appointment as ADC, Lt. Col. Yusuf is expected to serve as Tinubu’s personal assistant and provide him with security and support during his tenure as President of Nigeria.
The news of Lt. Col. Nurudeen Alowonle Yusuf’s appointment as the Aide De Camp (ADC) to President-elect Bola Tinubu has been met with mixed reactions from Nigerians.
Some individuals have expressed satisfaction with Tinubu’s choice of an experienced military officer to serve as his ADC.
They see Lt. Col. Yusuf’s appointment as a positive step toward ensuring the safety and security of the President-elect during his tenure in office.
Others have criticized the appointment, arguing that it is a clear indication that Tinubu is more interested in consolidating his power than in promoting unity and inclusiveness.
They believe that the appointment of an ADC from a particular region or state could fuel regional tensions and undermine national cohesion.
As the President-elect prepares to take over the reins of power, Nigerians will be watching closely to see how he plans to tackle the many challenges facing the country, including insecurity, unemployment, and a struggling economy.
