Senate President, Ahmad Lawan has told Labour Party presidential candidates, Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar including other candidates who lost at the February 25 presidential elections, to accept defeat and join president-elect Bola Tinubu to make Nigeria work, News About Nigeria reports.

During a meeting with a delegation from the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), Senate President Ahmad Lawan called on opposition political parties in Nigeria to join forces with the incoming administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu to develop the country.

Lawan stressed that the elections were over and that it was necessary for all Nigerians, including opposition parties, to support the new administration in delivering its promises to the people.

He emphasized that governance is for everybody and urged Nigerians to come together as a people to take the country to the next level of development.

Lawan also expressed his appreciation for the OACPS Secretary General’s efforts in making the organization more effective and efficient.

He highlighted the importance of forming partnerships in trade and other areas that are beneficial for Africa and Pacific countries.

Lawan also mentioned the partnership that Nigeria is forming with the European Union, with the aim of becoming self-reliant and self-dependent instead of relying on assistance from others.

In his address, Lawan acknowledged the minority leader’s support and excellent relationship in parliament, demonstrating that politicians can work together for the good of the country regardless of their political affiliations.

He emphasized the need for all opposition parties to team up with the new administration for the development of Nigeria, as governance is crucial for the progress of the country.

The Senate President also emphasized that after elections, the focus should be on governance, and urged Nigerians to set aside their political differences and work together to move the country forward.
