Peter Obi, the former Governor of Anambra State and the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the last general election, has taken a swipe at Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the President-elect who recently returned to Nigeria from a month-long vacation in France, News About Nigeria reports.
Obi is puzzled as to why Tinubu would go on a vacation after the presidential election, saying that no serious leader would do such a thing.
During his recent visit to the Muslim community in Akwa Central Mosque, Obi made it clear that he was not in support of leaders who go on vacation when there is so much work to be done.
According to him, leaders should not relax when there is so much to be done, including visiting schools and hospitals and interacting with people.
He believes that serious leaders should not rest, but rather should continue to work hard to support their citizens.
Obi’s statement appears to be aimed at Tinubu, who recently returned to Nigeria after spending over a month in France, shortly after winning the presidential election.
Obi is questioning Tinubu’s seriousness as a leader, wondering why he would choose to rest when there is so much work to be done in Nigeria.
He believes that Tinubu’s decision to take a vacation immediately after the election sends the wrong message to the people.
In contrast, Obi is committed to working hard and interacting with people, visiting schools and hospitals to support the citizens.
He believes that Nigeria needs leaders who are willing to work tirelessly to improve the lives of their citizens, rather than leaders who take vacations when there is much work to be done.
