Nigerian musician, Skales, has opened up about how fellow artist Olamide came to his rescue financially after he left Empire Mates Entertainment (EME), a record label he was previously signed to.
News About Nigeria confirms that in a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Skales revealed that he found himself homeless and broke after EME refused to renew his contract due to the label’s inability to generate profits from his music.
However, Olamide, a senior colleague in the music industry, stepped in to help.
Skales shared that Olamide called him and asked if he was planning to shoot a video for his song ‘Shake Body’.
Skales, who was facing financial difficulties at the time, responded that he was broke and homeless.
In a kind gesture, Olamide sent him money for the video shoot. The song ‘Shake Body’ eventually became a success.
Skales expressed his gratitude to Olamide for his generosity and support during a challenging time in his career.
He said: “My deal with them was done and they refused to continue because I wasn’t doing well at that time.
“Olamide contacted me and said he loved one of my songs, Shake Body, and asked if I wasn’t going to shoot the video. I told him I was homeless and couldn’t possibly shoot a video and he sent me money. My God turned my life around after that video shoot”
