Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, has expressed his deep sorrow and condolences over the sudden passing of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah.

News About Nigeria reported that the senator, who represented the Anambra South Senatorial District, left this world at the age of 52 in London.

In a heartfelt tribute posted on his social media page, Obi celebrated Senator Ubah’s remarkable legacy of philanthropy and humanitarian work.

He highlighted the significant impact of Ubah’s foundation, which tirelessly supported the most vulnerable members of society, providing them with access to education, healthcare, and economic empowerment.

Obi also extended his sympathies to Senator Ubah’s family, encouraging them to find comfort in the enduring legacy he left behind.

He described Ubah as a brother, reflecting the close bond they shared despite their political differences.

Recalling their last meeting on July 12th at the burial of Chief Pius Onwuzo in Nnewi, Anambra State, Obi fondly remembered Senator Ubah’s warm hospitality and their meaningful conversation about the state of the nation.

Obi said during their discussion, Ubah expressed his admiration for Obi’s dedication to humanity’s progress and pledged to work together across party lines to serve their people.

Obi also praised Senator Ubah for his selfless contributions to creating a better world through his foundation.

He acknowledged the significant difference Ubah made in the lives of countless individuals, particularly the less privileged, by investing in their education, health, and economic well-being.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio also described Ubah as a “dedicated and passionate legislator whose contributions have left an indelible mark on our nation”.

Akpabio said Ubah’s commitment to his constituents and his work in the senate were “exemplary”, adding that he will be “greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and working with him”.
