The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, extended his condolences to the family of the late Nollywood makeup artist, Abigael Frederick, who tragically lost her life in a recent boat accident, News About Nigeria reports.
Frederick was among the five film practitioners, including Junior Pope, who died when their boat capsized in the River Niger on Wednesday.
In a gesture of sympathy and support, Governor Umo Eno visited the family of the deceased at their residence in Ikot Udoma, Eket Local Government Area.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ekerete Udoh, shared this information in a statement released on Saturday, along with photos from the governor’s visit posted on the official Facebook page of the state government.
During the visit, Governor Eno expressed his heartfelt condolences to the grieving family, noting that he shared in their pain and sorrow.
He commended Frederick for her dedication to her craft as a young entrepreneur and lamented the untimely end of her promising life.
“This is deeply unfortunate, a young girl, 24 years old, who finished her youth service just last year and decided to pursue her passion. It is sad and unfortunate that her life ended the way it did,” the governor said.
In addition to offering words of comfort, Governor Eno announced several measures to support the family in their time of need.
He directed the renovation of the family house to modern standards and granted automatic civil service employment to the deceased’s elder sister.
Furthermore, he pledged assistance for Frederick’s two younger sisters, who are currently pursuing their studies at the University of Uyo.
“The governor also assured them of the government’s assistance to the two sisters of the bereaved who are undergraduates at the University of Uyo, said to be sponsored by the late Nollywood make-up artist,” the statement read.
Governor Eno had previously instructed that Frederick’s body be returned to the state for a proper burial after it was discovered on Thursday, April 11, and reportedly buried at the riverbank.
