Junior Pope: Akwa Ibom Governor Visits Family Of Makeup Artist

Abigail Frederick, the makeup artist who was part of the ill-fated boat that capsized, claiming the life of popular Nollywood actor, Junior Pope and other crew members of Adanma Luke’s ‘Another Side of Life’ movie have been buried in her hometown in Akwa-Ibom state, News About Nigeria reports.

Following the tragic boat accident last Wednesday, the makeup artist who drowned and was found the next day (Thursday) was immediately buried at the bank of the Anam river in Anambra state.

According to reports, this was because her family could not perform the needed traditional rites to take her body and were not able to pay the funds needed to take her corpse home.

Due to the lack of funds, her father decided that she be buried at the river bank.

Upon hearing about the tragic incident and how the 24-year-old was buried at the bank of the river in Anambra state, Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State paid the family of the deceased a condolence visit.

During the visit, the governor noted that money would not stop the late Abigail from getting a proper funeral.

He, therefore, ordered that her body be exhumed and brought home for proper burial and mourning.

Following his order, her body was exhumed yesterday (Sunday) from the river bank.

A now-viral video on social media shows her lying in state at her burial ceremony which was held today.

An enlarged picture of her in her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) uniform was also placed by her coffin.
