Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of creating and sponsoring conflicts within opposition parties, including the Labour Party (LP), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
In a video circulating online, El-Rufai claimed that President Bola Tinubu’s government is behind the internal struggles affecting these parties, saying it is a strategy to weaken their leadership.
According to El-Rufai, the crisis in the Labour Party are not natural but rather created and funded by the current administration.
He alleged that the legal battles faced by the party were meant to distract its leaders.
He also pointed out that the PDP and NNPP are facing similar issues, suggesting that these crises are part of a deliberate plan.
El-Rufai specifically mentioned the reported expulsion of Rabiu Kwankwaso from NNPP, questioning how a party could remove its only governor.
He described the situation as unnatural and suggested it was orchestrated to destabilize the party.
However, he admitted that he did not have all the details.
He said:
“The crisis in the Labour Party is contrived and funded by the government of the day, everyone knows it.
“Jumping from one court to another is all designed to distract the party leadership from their core functions. The same thing is happening in the PDP and even in the NNPP.”
His statements comes a day after he resigned from APC and joined the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
He explained that his decision was based on his belief that APC had abandoned its original principles.
