An auto crash reportedly claimed the lives of three people, leaving several others injured, along the old Gwaram road in Jigawa State, News About Nigeria reports.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa State Police Command, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam.
He noted that a six-year-old girl was among the victims who did not survive.
The incident occurred at approximately 6:30 PM on November 12, when a J5 bus carrying seventeen passengers collided with a Dangote trailer at Kwanar Mangwarori.
According to Adam, the bus, driven by Wada Shuaibu from Laya village in Gwaram Local Government Area (LGA), was en route from Sara market to Laya village when it reportedly struck an empty trailer belonging to the Dangote group.
The trailer, driven by Musbahu Yakubu from Buruku village in Kaduna State, was traveling in the opposite direction toward Kano State.
He added that the driver of the trailer fled the scene and remains at large.
The statement reads, “Upon receiving the report, our officers responded promptly. The victims were swiftly evacuated to Gwaram Cottage Hospital for medical attention.”
“Sadly, three passengers succumbed to their injuries shortly after being admitted to the hospital. The deceased have been identified as Idris Nuhu, 30, Shamsuddeen Ibrahim, 29, and Khadija Kabiru, a six-year-old girl, all from Laya village.
“Five passengers received treatment for minor injuries and were discharged, while the remaining occupants of the bus are still receiving medical care.
“The police have launched an investigation and are actively working to locate the trailer driver involved in the incident.”
He assured the public that the Command would pursue every lead to bring the trailer driver to justice.
