Seven Nigerians have been deported from Libya for violating the country’s laws.

News About Nigeria learned that in addition to the seven Nigerians, six other individuals from different countries were also deported from Libya.

The deportation, overseen by Libya’s Department for Combating Illegal Migration (DCIM), took place at the Qanfoudah Immigration Detention Center in Benghazi.

Libyan authorities explained that the deportation was a result of the individuals’ violation of the nation’s laws. They further noted that Libya will no longer tolerate misconduct by migrants, with measures now in place to ensure defaulters face severe consequences.

However, Libya emphasized that it remains welcoming to law-abiding foreigners who contribute positively to the nation’s growth.

Providing a breakdown of the deported nationalities, Migrant Rescue Watch on Tuesday revealed that they included seven Nigerians, three Bangladeshis, and three Ghanaians.

In a statement on their X handle, Migrant Rescue Watch confirmed the deportations, stating, “DCIM deported 13 migrants (3 Bangladeshis, 3 Ghanaians, and 7 Nigerians) from the Qanfoudah Immigration Detention Centre via Benina International Airport in Benghazi. All individuals were deported for violating laws in force in the Libyan state.”

The deportees were escorted out of Libya via Benina International Airport in Benghazi, amid increasing efforts by Libyan authorities to manage illegal migration within their borders.

Libya, a frequent transit point for migrants seeking to enter Europe, has intensified its enforcement measures, citing security and legal compliance as priorities.
