Three people lost their lives on Monday in a fatal truck accident at Ayetoro Market in Lagos State.
News About Nigeria gathered that the accident occurred due to the truck’s brake failure.
According to eyewitness reports, the truck driver was speeding before losing control and hitting a tricycle and a car parked near the market.
Confirming the tragedy in a statement on its official X account, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) revealed that the truck was descending from Ita-Opo when it lost its brakes, hitting a commercial tricycle and a parked Toyota Camry before ramming into the market.
LASTMA further stated that the three victims of the fatal accident have been taken to the mortuary at Epe General Hospital.
It also disclosed that, following the incident, the road has been closed and traffic diverted to prevent further disruption or danger.
The statement reads, “A fatal accident occurred due to a brake failure of a truck descending from Ita-Opo. It hit a commercial tricycle and a parked Toyota Camry before ramming into the Ayetoro Market/Complex.
“Three lives were lost, and the bodies have been taken to the morgue at Epe General Hospital. A tow truck is on-site to evacuate the affected vehicles. Traffic has been diverted for smooth vehicular movement.”
