Donald Trump has emerged as the 47th President of the United States of America, USA, defeating the incumbent Vice President, Kamala Harris, News About Nigeria reports.

Trump, who represents the Republican Party in the tightly contested election, secured 51 percent of the votes, beating Kamala Harris of the Democrats who secured 47.5 percent.

It is worthy to note that this is the second term of Trump, who was the 45th President of the country from January 20, 2017, to January 20, 2021.

Trump suffered defeat in the 2020 presidential election to former Democratic vice president Joe Biden but has returned after a fierce battle against the first black woman to contest for the Presidency in the country.

Leaders across the world have congratulated the President-elect including Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Tinubu, in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga, on Wednesday, extended his congratulations to Donald Trump.

He also expressed his eagerness to strengthen the ties between Nigeria and the United States amid the complex challenges and opportunities of the contemporary world.

According to him, Trump’s victory reflects the trust and confidence the American people have placed in his leadership.

The statement reads, “Together, we can foster economic cooperation, promote peace, and address global challenges that affect our citizens.

“President Tinubu believes that, given President Trump’s experience as the 45th President of the United States from 2017 to 2021, his return to the White House as the 47th President will usher in an era of earnest, beneficial, and reciprocal economic and development partnerships between Africa and the United States.”
