PDP Postpones NEC Meeting

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors forum has postponed its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, scheduled to be held on  October 24, 2024, to November 28, 2024, News About Nigeria reports.

This was disclosed in a communiqué issued and signed by the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum and Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Mohammed, on Tuesday.

The communiqué disclosed that the decision was reached following the consultative meeting of its various organs, which was held on Tuesday at the Bauchi State Governors’ Lodge, Tatari Ali House, Asokoro.

It noted that the postponement of the meeting is in a bid to ensure that the party goes into the forthcoming Ondo gubernatorial elections scheduled for November 16, 2024, with the unity and strength demanded to unseat the floundering All Progressive Congress (APC) government in the state.

The meeting held on Tuesday also looked into ways the crisis ongoing in the party can be sorted out and brought to an end.

The communique read in part, “Reiterating the need for unity in the face of efforts by detractors to divide the party, the meeting called on all members to shun divisive utterances that could undermine ongoing efforts at strengthening the party to effectively play its role as the country’s main opposition, preparatory to taking over in 2027.”

The meeting was attended by the PDP Governors Forum, its Board of Trustees, the National Working Committee (NWC), the National Assembly Leadership of the PDP Caucus and the Forum of Former Governors of the party

The meeting comes in the wake of an internal crisis currently rocking the party.
