WAEC Announces 2024 Computer-Based WASSCE For Private Candidates

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has confirmed that the 2024 Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates—Second Series will commence on Friday, October 25, and run until Friday, December 20, 2024.

In a statement released on Tuesday, WAEC revealed that this year’s examination will use a hybrid mode, combining both on-screen and traditional paper formats, News About Nigeria reports.

While multiple-choice questions will be answered on-screen, candidates will use answer booklets for essay and practical questions.

Additionally, candidates have the option to use the traditional Paper and Pen mode for the entire examination.

“The examination will adopt the hybrid mode of delivering the examination, which implies that, the objective or multiple-choice questions would be rendered on-screen and candidates would be required to give their responses on the screen, while the essay and practical questions will be rendered on-screen, likewise, but candidates would have to give their responses using the answer booklets provided,” the statement read.

WAEC also announced an extension of the registration deadline to Tuesday, October 29, 2024.

The Council said the “Walk-in-Candidate” option is available for those who register 24 hours before their chosen paper.

“Similarly, the “Walk-in-Candidate” opportunity (for candidates who register 24 hours before the particular paper of their choice is due to be taken) will be open at the end of the registration. The final timetable for the examination is available for download on the WAEC Nigeria website.”

WAEC encouraged candidates to take advantage of its learning resources, including the WAEC e-Study platform, past questions and answers books, and the WAECKonnect platform.

The full timetable for the exam is available for download on WAEC’s Nigeria website.

The Council wished all candidates success in the upcoming exams and reiterated its commitment to improving service delivery through technological innovations.
