Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has allocated N470 million for accreditation purposes across five state-owned tertiary institutions and seven technical and commercial secondary schools, News About Nigeria reports.
According to Mohammed-Sani Bello, the state’s education commissioner, obtaining recognition from reputable accrediting bodies is vital for maintaining the quality of academic programmes.
Bello explained that accreditation serves as a validation of the legitimacy of degrees, courses, and certificates issued upon completion of studies.
The commissioner provided a detailed breakdown of the accreditation funds allocated to each institution, totalling N470 million.
Bello highlighted the significant achievements and progress made by the Sani administration since taking office in May 2023, marking a period of notable success.
He emphasised that Governor Sani is committed to providing uninterrupted quality education in Kaduna State, with education remaining a top priority for the administration.
Since assuming office, Governor Sani has implemented comprehensive reforms in the education sector, focusing on improving access, retention, and learning outcomes.
Bello said that the administration has also prioritised teacher welfare, conducive learning environments, and infrastructure investments.
In 2023, Governor Sani announced a reduction in tuition fees across state-owned tertiary institutions, ranging from 30% to 50%, to increase access to education.
Additionally, the state government reduced the fee regime at the Kaduna Capital School from N65,000 to N23,000 per academic term.
The administration has initiated various projects, including the construction of new secondary schools, the renovation of hostels and classrooms, and the provision of scholarships for students.
The commissioner noted that N205 million was released for merit- and need-based scholarship disbursement to eligible students.
