The organisers of the just concluded #EndBadGovernanceinNigeria protest held nationwide have announced that they are planning to stage another protest in October, News About Nigeria reports.
The Director of Mobilisation of the Take It Back Movement, Damilare Adenola, disclosed this to newsmen on Monday.
He stated that the October protest will be called ‘Fearless in October’, adding that the protesters’ demands would remain the same unless there were other issues, requiring them to add more.
“Yes. It is called the ‘Fearless in October Protest’. Our charter of demands stands as same. If at all, we will add more as the country decays more.” he stated.
Recall that the #EndBadgovernance protest happened in August, running for ten days, from the 1st until the 10th of August.
Youths across the country embarked on the #EndBadGovernance protests nationwide, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), despite efforts by government officials to stop them.
The protesters, days before the demonstrations, had submitted a list of demands, asking the government to scrap the Senate arm of the National Assembly and make law-making a part-time job for the House of Representatives
They also demanded that Nigerian workers be paid a minimum of N250,000, reverse fuel prices and the cost of electricity tariffs pre-January 2023, and release and compensate all EndSARS and political detainees.
Also speaking, an activist and Human Rights Lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, noted that efforts are currently being directed towards ensuring the release of protesters who had been arrested during the previous protests.
“All efforts are being directed towards securing the release of those that have been arrested”, he said.
