Lamorde: Ex-EFCC Chairman To Be Laid To Rest Today

Ibrahim Lamorde, a former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) who died on Sunday in Egypt, will be buried today.

News About Nigeria had reported that the 61-year-old former EFCC Chairman had travelled to Egypt for medical treatment.

He died of kidney stone disease.

Lamorde’s burial was announced by a former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, in a post on his X handle on Tuesday.

Pantami made the announcement in a post captioned ‘funeral prayer notification’ on behalf of the family of the late former EFCC Chairman.

The post reads, “On behalf of the family, friends, and colleagues, we write to notify you that the Jana’iza prayer of our late father, brother, and uncle, DIG Ibrahim LAMORDE mni, and former chairman of the EFCC, is coming up tomorrow, Tuesday, 28/05/2024 at the National Mosque Abuja by 1:30 pm in sha Allah, immediately after Zuhr! (From the family of the late DIG Ibrahim Lamorde).”

Meanwhile, the Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has announced a three-day mourning for Lamorde and a member of the state House of Assembly, Hon. Abdulmalik Jauro Musa.

According to the governor, the death of the illustrious sons of the state was a moment of shock and sadness for him and the people of the state.

While declaring the three days of mourning, the governor said, “We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished anti-corruption crusader and a much-loved police officer, Ibrahim Lamorde. I also mourn the demise of Musa Abdulmalik, an accomplished legislator. I know their loss will be deeply felt throughout the state and by countless people around the country.”
