Passengers Stranded As Abuja-Bound Train Derails In Kaduna

An Abuja-bound train carrying dozens of passengers derailed midway from Kaduna on Sunday morning, News About Nigeria reports.

The train, which departed from Kaduna at approximately 8:05 am, experienced the derailment at Jere, around an hour into its journey.

The derailment resulted in three carriages coming off the tracks. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported, but passengers experienced significant disruption. 

Efforts are currently underway to repair the derailed train and restore normal service.

Security personnel, including soldiers and police officers, have been deployed to the scene to ensure order and provide assistance.

The cause of the derailment is still under investigation, and further details are expected to be released by the railway authorities in due course.

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, (NSIB), while confirming the incident, revealed some of its personnel had been dispatched to investigate.

“NSIB is aware of a derailment of an Abuja-bound train from Kaduna that occurred halfway into the journey at Jere.

“A go team has been deployed to the site of the accident,the statement read.
