Again, Gunmen Kill Another Police Inspector In Rivers

The Rivers State Police Command announced on Thursday the death of an Inspector of Police in the state, Sunday Baba, whom unknown gunmen gruesomely killed, News About Nigeria reports.

According to the Rivers State Police, Baba, before his tragic demise, was serving as the inspector of police in the Rumuolumeni area of the state.

The news of his tragic demise was disclosed in a post shared on the command’s official X  handle on Thursday.

In the post, it was disclosed that the deceased officer lost his life while he was on duty on Wednesday.

The police shared the painful news, saying, “It’s sad that being a police officer means leaving home in good health, never certain of your return.”

News About Nigeria reports that this is not the first time such an attack on police officers has happened in the state.

The attack on Baba comes two months after another inspector in the Obio/Akpo Local Government Area of the state was also killed.

The inspector was killed in February by gunmen who ambushed and attacked men of the force who were on stop-and-search duty.

The attackers drove in a carton-coloured Sienna bus with fully tinted glasses from the Rumuodumaya axis of the state and opened fire on the police team, resulting in a gun battle that led to the tragic loss of the inspector.

However, the police were able to neutralise one of the attackers with a mask on his face, while the others managed to escape, with varying gunshot wounds.
