Nollywood actor Junior Pope Odonwondo is alive, News About Nigeria reports.
This development was disclosed by the president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, via his Instagram handle.
The post via the page of the Actor Guild of Nigeria on Wednesday evening disclosed that Junior Pope is undergoing treatment in an undisclosed hospital.
He said, “What God cannot do does not exist. Junior Pope is alive. He is taking treatment in the hospital.”
There are rumours he is being treated at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Asaba, where a crowd has thronged to the hospital.
Pope, along with three of his colleagues, was reported dead on Wednesday after their boat capsized in Anam River in Anambra state. Their bodies were reportedly collected and readied for the mortuary.
The incident occurred when they were reportedly returning from a movie production.
However, footage circulating on social media shows people attempting to resuscitate Junior Pope.
In one of the videos, he is lifted off the ground and fanned.
Junior Pope was born on May 7, 1984, in Bamenda, Cameroon, but migrated to Nigeria as a young child. He started performing in 2006.
Junior Pope’s notable performances include appearances in films such as “Secret Adventure,” in which he demonstrated his acting abilities, “Nkwocha,” a drama that addresses societal difficulties, and “Bachelor Eve,” a comedy that showcases his comedic skills.
