Aderounmu Adejumoke: Funke Akindele Responds To Allegations Of Ignoring Sick Colleague

In an Instagram live session on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, actress Funke Akindele addressed claims that she ignored the late actress Aderounmu Adejumoke when she sought assistance during her illness, News About Nigeria reports.

Akindele stated that she was unaware of Aderounmu’s illness until she saw a comment on her page accusing her of negligence.

Responding to the accusation, she explained that she felt compelled to address the issue to avoid further misunderstandings.

The actress clarified that her relationship with Aderounmu was strictly professional, and she had no personal connection with her outside of work.

“She acted her role, got paid, and left,” Akindele said.

The controversy arose after Aderounmu’s brother, Adeola Aderounmu, implied on Instagram that their family had attempted to contact Akindele for assistance but received no response.

Akindele refuted the allegations, stating that she gives assistance but does not publicise it, and would have helped if she had been aware of the situation.

“I give randomly. I see people doing stuff and support them. What more do you want me to do? Please,” she said.

Akindele also revealed that she reached out to Aderounmu’s brother after her death but did not receive a response.

“I sent a message to that guy. He saw it. He didn’t reply. I said I’m so sorry. I didn’t know anything about your sister,” she added.

Throughout the live session, Akindele expressed her unhappiness with the situation and said that she also faces challenges as a public figure.

“I don’t beef any filmmaker. I face my thing. The record I have been able to break is by the grace of God. Do not forget I have got my trying moments too. During COVID remember my mom passed on. Politics? I was backlashed. Marriage, remember? Somebody now said you will lose your children. I think that is too much,” she said.
