Driver Dies As Bus Collide With Truck On Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

The Federal Road Safety Corps in Ondo State confirmed on Saturday that two siblings were crushed to death by a truck along ldi- Mango in Ore, Odigbo council area of the state, News About Nigeria reports.

According to reports, the victims, who were on a motorcycle, were crushed to death by a truck that was loaded with sand.

An eyewitness, who spoke anonymously, said that the crash was caused by the victims’ carelessness while plying the highway.

He explained that the victims slipped on the motorcycle and rammed into the truck coming along the Okitipupa route.

“The driver of the truck ran away due to the incident while the truck was being taken to the police station in Ore,” the eyewitness said.

Confirming the tragic incident, the state commander of the FRSC, Ezekiel Son-Allah, said that the tragic incident happened at around 10:25 am today.

Son-Allah, who attributed the crash to over-speeding by the victims, warned motorists to always avoid over-speeding for their own safety.

He also revealed that the deceased had been deposited at the mortuary, while the truck of the fleeing driver had been handed over to the police in the Ore division.

“The victim’s corpses were deposited at General Hospital Mortuary, Ore, and the crashed vehicles were handed over to the police in Ore Division,” he stated.

While mourning the dead, he noted that the police have begun an investigation into the whereabouts of the fleeing truck driver, adding that they are making contacts to reach the families of the victims.

Son-Allah also reiterated the FRSC’s commitment to ensuring that motorists adhere to rules and regulations while plying the road.
